An Evidence-Based Training on Contraceptive Care – Tulsa, OK
The UCSF Bixby Center’s Beyond the Pill program and Take Control Initiative are partnering to bring you this interactive in-person training. All staff are welcome to attend, including administrative staff, clinicians, front desk staff, health educators, medical assistants, nurses, and other staff types.
Event Schedule:
8:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Registration and Breakfast
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Contraceptive Guidelines, Best Practices & Updates (3 CME credits)
This session reviews evidence-based guidelines for providing the full range of contraceptive methods. We will review patient eligibility, compare and contrast side effects and benefits, and discuss common misconceptions and concerns about contraception.
12:00 PM – 12:30 PM – Lunch Provided
12:30 PM – 2:00 PM: Contraceptive Counseling Fundamentals (1.5 CME credits)
This session focuses on patient-centered counseling techniques and shared decision-making. Through interactive case studies, participants will become more comfortable responding to common patient concerns around birth control and counseling on side effects.
2:00 PM – 2:15 PM: Break
2:15 PM – 2:45 PM: Trauma Informed Care (0.5 CME credits)
This session reviews principles of trauma-informed care. Participants will discuss techniques for applying these principles to patient encounters and review practices and clinic policies that uphold patient autonomy.
2:45 PM – 3:00 PM: Break
3:00 PM – 4:30 PM: Contraceptive Care for Individuals with Bigger Bodies (1.5 CME credits)
