Improving Contraceptive Care for People with Disabilities
Brought to you by UCSF Bixby Center’s Beyond the Pill and the Take Control Initiative, this training is designed for all clinic staff and offers practical tools to improve contraceptive care for People with Disabilities.
11:30 AM – 1:00 PM Central Time – We will review contraceptive considerations related to co-occurring medical conditions and medications commonly used by people with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities. Through interactive case studies, we will discuss caregiver roles, consent, menstruation, and exam accommodations. We will also explore how the medicalization of disability can contribute to ableism, stigma, and reproductive coercion. Participants will explore an alternative model and receive resources for implementing changes in their practice that facilitate the delivery of inclusive, person-centered care.
